Recycle Bin does not work while the license key (Dongle) is plugged in

Sometimes the CodeMeter-Dongle gives strange behaviour for the recycle bin.

When using Windows 7, it could happen that you do not see any deleted files in the Windows Recycle Bin.
Even when you just deleted a file, it does not appear in the Recycle Bin, although when selecting “Empty Recycle Bin” you will be warned that you are going to erase files.

The reason for this could be the local CodeMeter-Dongle.

In order to fix this, please follow the steps below:

CodeMeter 4.20

1.Go to Start > All Programs > CodeMeter > Tools > Disc Configuration.
2.Here change the disk type as removable disk in stead of hard disk.
3.After this, remove the CodeMeter key, and reattach it to your computer to apply this change.

CodeMeter 4.30 and later
Since CodeMeter Version 4.30, the Disc Configuration tool is no longer available.

But the disk configuration can still be changed by using the cmu32-command line tool:

1.Open your command line console (e.g. Start > Run... and then type cmd)
   2.Browse / set the current directory to C:\Program Files\CodeMeter\Runtime\bin
   3.Now type the following:

cmu32 -s******** --set-config-disk RemovableDisk

Please replace the ******** with the serial number of your CmStick.

The serial number can be found on the CodeMeter key itself, or open the CodeMeter Control panel for the CmStick’s serial number.

Codemeter-dongle

Type Exit to close the command prompt.

Finally unplug and replug the codemeterstick.

To change the setting back, you can use this command line:

cmu32 -s******** --set-config-disk LocalDisk.

This should solve the issue if the codemeter-dongle was indeed the problem.

How to get the versioninfo in EasySIGN

How to create a VERSIONINFO-file?

If you have Easysign V6 or later and you are able to start EasySign then you can start the versioninfo from the EasySIGN menu.

It is located at: Help->VersionInfo.

 VersionInfo

Otherwise you have to start the versionInfo as follows:

Click the Windows Start button.

  • Select "All Programs".
Select "EasySIGN VX" (where "X" is your version).
    Select "Tools".
    Select "Versioninfo"

    The following dialog will open:

Versioninfo

Wait a few seconds until all the information is loaded, the dialog will then look like below:

 Versioninfo

Click on the button "Print". This will open a notepad with the necessary information.

Save the content of notepad as "VERSIONINFO.txt". Make sure you use a location that you can easily find for example your desktop.

Preferable first zip the "VERSIONINFO.txt". It is a rather large text file and if you first zip this file you won't have to wait that long while uploading. The browse dialog for selecting a file to upload will accept .TXT and .ZIP files.

I want to use my EasySIGN 16-bit SFN fonts in EasySIGN V4.x, V5.x or V6.x.

You’ll have to copy the .SFN fonts manually from the EasySIGN V9 CD-ROM (or the 16-bit installation directory) to “C:\Program Files\EasySIGN\V04\Fonts” (or “C:\Program Files\EasySIGN\V05\Fonts”).
Also make sure that the files are not set to ‘Read-only’ after copying from a CD-ROM.

When I click “File” in easysign, the software crashes, or produces a strange error message.

This problem is caused by a problem in the TWAIN scanner driver. When the user clicks “File”, the software checks for the presence of such a scanner, which causes the TWAIN driver to crash or produce an error message.

The solution would be to update the drivers for the scanner to the latest version, please check the website of the manufacturer for this.

Workaround: you should switch off the scanning in EasySIGN, or use the WIA driver. This is not directly possible, as these settings are located under the “File” menu…. We have therefore provided this ZIP file. Please open the file, and double-click the .REG file that is in it. This will switch off the scanning, allowing the user to go to “File” “Settings”, tab “Miscellaneous”. Here, the option “TWAIN” is available, you can try to set this to ‘WIA’. If this causes the same problem to re-appear, then repeat this workaround and update the scanner drivers.
